I have been teaching Fitness Pilates classes regularly in Ayrshire since 2007.

 

I like to keep things up to date and fresh so I regularly attend Fitness Pilates Workshops to enhance my classes with new ideas like flex-bands, gliding discs, mini balls, tabata, functional and freeflowing Fitness Pilates.

What is Fitness Pilates?

Fitness Pilates has been created by Rachel Holmes and Choreographytogo.com.  It is a group based exercise class that is based on the original teachings of Joseph Pilates.  It integrates a mix of the original Pilates exercises together with modern research and updated techniques to make it suitable for a group exercise class.

Fitness Pilates is created for healthy adults. It is  remedial, clinical or diagnostic and it is not designed for rehabilitation.  Therefore, in most cases, it will not be suitable for people with severe back or postural problems. 

Fitness Pilates uses all of the principals of traditional Pilates and includes many of the original mat work exercises and in addition it also offers modifications, diversifications and updated exercise ideas which are appropriate for most healthy adults.

 

What are the Aims of Fitness Pilates?

Fitness Pilates is designed to enhance the posture, strength, balance and stability of a healthy adult.

It focuses on the body as a human kinetic chain and by applying the Pilates technique and exercises, Fitness Pilates aims to offset musculoskeletal imbalances.

Through Pilates exercises the aim is to:

    • Increase muscular balance
    • Increase muscular strength
    • Increase muscular tone
    • Improve posture

 

By using stretching exercises to lengthen short, tight muscles combined with strengthening exercises to increase the tone of lax muscle Fitness Pilates aims to redress the balance in muscle tone.

 

Who is Fitness Pilates for? 

Fitness Pilates is for healthy adults wishing to increase their muscle strength, tone and balance and at the same time improve their posture.  My class is suitable for a variety of fitness levels and abilities.

In general Pilates attracts people with back problems but Fitness Pilates, in most cases, will not be suitable for people with severe back or postural problems.  Medical clearance should be given by a medical professional before attendance at a Fitness Pilates class.

The class at Powerhouse Gym, Galston will be cancelled on Tuesday 14th February 2012.  Business as usual on Tuesday 21st February.

 

 

XMAS 2011 CLASS INFO

The class at Powerhouse Gym, Galston will finish on Tuesday 6th December 2011 and restart on Tuesday 10th January 2012.

 

 

SUMMER 2011 CLASS INFO

Greenwood Academy class will be off for 3 weeks - Thursdays 30th June, 1st July and 14th July.  Business as usual from Thursday 21st July so look forward to seeing you then!

 

Galston class will stop for the summer on Tuesday 21st June recommending Tuesday 2nd August.
